So Payton survived her first vaccinations... well I think it was more that Mommy survived Payton's first vaccinations... oh did she cry... just about broke my heart! She didn't seem to suffer any lasting effects, the boob cures all!!... a little Tylenol that night for a small fever and maybe a little pain in her legs, but I think the fever she had was from the little cold that she has.
I think it is a cold...this is my first experience with a baby cold, it doesn't seem to severe... mostly just a stuffy nose, extra sneezes (she normally does doubles and triples, now she is doing triples and quads... hey just like in figure skating... haha... don't worry I know I'm a dork)..., and some adorable little coughs... but anyone who has tried to use that damn "nose suction bulb" thingy to help a baby clear their nose during a cold, has suffered the same frustration that I have been experiencing...it barely does anything, and well geeze, does it make her mad!! Which in turn, makes it worse cause when she cries there is more boogers... bad situation! I did read somewhere that if they sleep on an angle it helps them not become so stuffy at night... I do believe it works, propped her mattress up at one end...and bingo slept through the night again...I think she is getting better though.
As for her sleeping, I think I must be the luckiest mom in the world. We start bath time at about 8pm every night, then eat and down to bed usually between 9 and 9:30... and more often then not she stays down till 4 or 5am, up to eat then back down till 8 or 9am......and she has done this right from the beginning, about 3 weeks old... thought I was luck then...till she slept right through till almost 8am! almost 11 hours!!! She just knows that mommy loves to sleep, and is very dumb if she doesn't get enough sleep!
Oh yeah... forgot this one... one of my neighbours told me a story, which I attributed to an urban myth, about remembering to always wash a baby's sleepers inside out. It is so that the mother's hair does not get bundled up in the bottom of the feet, then get wrapped around baby's toes and end up cutting off the circulation and making the toes fall off... I had totally stopped thinking about this until Des calls me into the office, asking why Payton had a fat roll on her finger, realizing very quickly that it was one of my hairs wrapped so tightly that her finger was swelling! We had to get these tiny pointy scissors and could still barely get it off... it left a mark on her finger for 2 days... I felt awful!!! We check her fingers and toes on a very regular basis now! Guess its not such an urban myth...
I have been watching the Olympics, more than I ever have before in my life, and finding it quite interesting, watched the Ski Cross, was very disappointed for the poor Canadians.
Well that's all for today, I think I have talked enough for a while... haha... me talked enough... yeah right!
