Thumb Sucking... and Tummy Time...

So the little darling has officially figured that her thumb fits alot better than the whole fist... uhh ohh... but so damn cute!

Payton has decided that tummy time isn't as bad as she first thought...
So anyone that has been talking to me knows that we were trying to eliminate dairy because something was giving Payton terrible tummy aches, and thought that was what it was... well then the Health nurse suggested that I try stopping my prenatal vitamin that I was taking because of still breastfeeding... and wow what a different week we have had... she eats, sleeps, giggles, smiles, plays... and well is just mostly content... its been a much better week!
That's this weeks adventure...

Vaccinations & Sleeping...

So Payton survived her first vaccinations... well I think it was more that Mommy survived Payton's first vaccinations... oh did she cry... just about broke my heart! She didn't seem to suffer any lasting effects, the boob cures all!!... a little Tylenol that night for a small fever and maybe a little pain in her legs, but I think the fever she had was from the little cold that she has.

I think it is a cold...this is my first experience with a baby cold, it doesn't seem to severe... mostly just a stuffy nose, extra sneezes (she normally does doubles and triples, now she is doing triples and quads... hey just like in figure skating... haha... don't worry I know I'm a dork)..., and some adorable little coughs... but anyone who has tried to use that damn "nose suction bulb" thingy to help a baby clear their nose during a cold, has suffered the same frustration that I have been experiencing...it barely does anything, and well geeze, does it make her mad!! Which in turn, makes it worse cause when she cries there is more boogers... bad situation! I did read somewhere that if they sleep on an angle it helps them not become so stuffy at night... I do believe it works, propped her mattress up at one end...and bingo slept through the night again...I think she is getting better though.

As for her sleeping, I think I must be the luckiest mom in the world. We start bath time at about 8pm every night, then eat and down to bed usually between 9 and 9:30... and more often then not she stays down till 4 or 5am, up to eat then back down till 8 or 9am......and she has done this right from the beginning, about 3 weeks old... thought I was luck then...till she slept right through till almost 8am! almost 11 hours!!! She just knows that mommy loves to sleep, and is very dumb if she doesn't get enough sleep!

Oh yeah... forgot this one... one of my neighbours told me a story, which I attributed to an urban myth, about remembering to always wash a baby's sleepers inside out. It is so that the mother's hair does not get bundled up in the bottom of the feet, then get wrapped around baby's toes and end up cutting off the circulation and making the toes fall off... I had totally stopped thinking about this until Des calls me into the office, asking why Payton had a fat roll on her finger, realizing very quickly that it was one of my hairs wrapped so tightly that her finger was swelling! We had to get these tiny pointy scissors and could still barely get it off... it left a mark on her finger for 2 days... I felt awful!!! We check her fingers and toes on a very regular basis now! Guess its not such an urban myth...

I have been watching the Olympics, more than I ever have before in my life, and finding it quite interesting, watched the Ski Cross, was very disappointed for the poor Canadians.

Well that's all for today, I think I have talked enough for a while... haha... me talked enough... yeah right!

Sledding and a Bumbo chair...

Only 2 months old and can almost sit up in her Bumbo chair all by herself... she is leaning back against the couch in this picture...lol...

Who would actually believe that a moulded, coloured piece of foam could actually be sold for like $70... and stupid parents would pay it... what on earth did parents do in the days before all this stuff!!

So for her first Christmas Payton got a sled... so it was finally warm enough to take her out in it... not that exciting, except the vibrations made the upset tummy cries go away and she fell asleep... fast asleep!

Payton is 2 months...

So yesterday Payton was 2 months old... Mommy sang her the birthday song... lol... then we weighed the little porker... 13lbs exactly... and 23.5" long! I cannot believe how fast she is growing!

So I am going to do a little work for the company I worked for before, Independent Electric, from home that is... a few spreadsheets and files for now... they missed me! Well anyways, that ment that Des and I needed to re-do the office situation. Now that he is doing the computer work from home with his mom, he has taken over the office, and the company wanted to give me a desktop computer to work on, and I wasn't about to setup a PC on my kitchen table! Little hard to move outta the way for dinner!

So off to IKEA... God I'm afraid of that store! ... Des compained the whole way there!! Haha... expect anything else... and well guess what... its not that bad on a Tuesday around lunchtime (I have only ever tried to go on a weekend before...bad idea)... we parked the "Princess Truck" easily, and were off into the store... where there was only a handful of people wandering around and we had plenty of room to wander ourselves... Des did keep trying to take the "shortcuts" and get to the tills... but he did eventually follow through the whole store... we managed to pick out 2 new desks, 1 corner unit, and a straight unit that fit into our office (notice I'm using "our" office there...haha...)... with all the fixing for about $400... I think that is a good deal considering I wasn't able to really find 1 whole desk other places for that price... it works for us for now!

Then of course we had to go off to Toys 'R Us, Payton needed a birthday toy... just kidding, but we did pick her up a Bumbo chair... now for those of you who, like me, do not know what a Bumbo chair is... its basicly a molded foam chair that a little baby can sit up in... don't worry when we get her in it I'll take pictures and post them!... and well we got her a Jolly Jumper, don't know if she is big enough for that yet... and a few other little things... Remember Des... don't let your mom and I go shopping by ourselves!!!

And well we had to do a little grocery shopping, so off to Wal-Mart, and with an overflowing cart, and a till receipt a mile long, and a very tired little girl that Daddy had carried through most of the store, we were off home to set up our new office furniture... that always provides some entertainment value... however Des and I made it through the entire setup without one snappy remark or argument!! Haha... VICTORY!!

A Shopaholic in Training...???

So Payton, at exactly 8 weeks and 3 days old, had her very first trip to the mall. West Edmonton Mall to be exact, one of the largest malls in the world... I think in the top 5... might as well go big if we are going to do it! Grandma Schwindt loves to shop, and would love to start the training nice and young, so off we went this morning; Daddy, Mommy, and Grandma Schwindt, to meet Auntie Shauna and our cousin Lisa at the mall...

Grandpa started her off this morning, I think he said something about "a little girl can't go to the mall without any money of her own"... she did seem to know just how to grab onto that...
He thought staying home to watch curling was a better idea than joining us... mmmmm... might be something to that...

The day went fairly well... we ate a little...Shopped a little... and walked a lot... anyone who has been to that mall knows there is a lot of walking to do, especially when a girl from the boonies goes and gets lost everytime she leaves a store...

Payton did get an outfit,... cause a girl can't go on her first trip to the mall and not get a new outfit...

And well... this is what a girl looks like after her first trip to the mall... totally exausted!

Talk a lot... why not Type a lot?

So thought I would try my hand at this blogging thing...

A few friends of mine have started these things as a way to keep others up to date on the progresses of their new little bundles. Thought it was a great idea!

I'm not really that creative, you know with writing and such, and I sure as hell can't spell worth a damn, but I figured a girl that is used to talking as much as I do, could maybe figure out a way to write down some of the adventures... of being a new mom, living in the boonies, and well day to day life. Wouldn't want to get out of practice for when I join the world again, my vocabulary is slowly becoming closer and closer to baby talk.

So I guess we can see how this goes, I'm not going to promise that it will be interesting, it might totally suck, but it does give me something to do during nap time...

The adventure begins...
